Paço de Sousa is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Penafiel, with an area of 8.35 km² and 3,869 inhabitants (2011). Its population density is 463.4 inhabitants/km².
The village of Paço de Sousa is located in the extensive Sousa Valley and is about 30 kilometers from Porto, the seat of its district. Land of monuments and important works, from which we highlight the Monastery of Paço de Sousa, which serves as the Main Church, where Egas Moniz (aid of the first King of Portugal) is buried and the work of Casa do Gaiato, founded by the late Priest Américo. The unprecedented and picturesque extend from one end of the parish to the other, where the intensity of customs and rites that breathe legends and mysteries, and even the simple fears of a welcoming population, make this land a harmonious and suggestive human set.
The Church of the Monastery of Paço de Sousa is part of the Sousa Valley Romanesque Route.
